Sometimes you need to start fresh. Here's how to reset your camera — and what happens when you do.


When to Factory Reset

  • Pairing is stuck and you can't complete setup
  • Camera won't connect to WiFi after multiple tries
  • You're giving the camera to someone else
  • You replaced your router or changed your WiFi network

Before You Reset — Try a Soft Restart First

A soft restart is always worth trying before a full reset. It's quick and doesn't erase anything.

  1. Untwist the camera from the socket.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Retwist it in.

Give it 60 seconds to reconnect. If that doesn't fix the issue, continue to the factory reset steps below.


What a Factory Reset Does

A factory reset:

  • Clears the camera's saved WiFi credentials
  • Removes the camera from your account
  • Returns the camera to out-of-box condition

A factory reset does NOT:

  • Delete your account
  • Delete your clips or recordings stored in the cloud
  • Affect other cameras on your account

Your clips stay in your account. When you set the camera back up, they'll still be there.


Giving the Camera to Someone Else?

Do this before you reset. In the app, go to Settings → [Camera Name] → Remove Camera. Remove it from your account first, then do the factory reset below. That way the new owner can claim it as theirs without any issues.


How to Factory Reset

  1. Find the reset button on the camera body. It's a small button — check the side or base of the camera.
  2. Press and hold the button for 8 seconds. The light will turn solid red.
  3. Release the button. The camera will restart on its own.
  4. Wait for the light to start blinking white — that means the camera is ready to be set up again.

After the Reset

Open the LightCam app and tap Add Camera. Go through setup just like you did the first time. If you're setting it up fresh for yourself, your account and clips will all be waiting for you when you sign in.
