How to Delete Your LightCam Account and Data
Your account is yours, and so is your data. Here's how to close your LightCam account, cancel any subscription, and have your data erased — and what happens to your cameras and clips along the way.
The complete way: ask us to delete everything
The most complete way to close your account — including erasing your data and cancelling any active LightCam Plus subscription — is to email us:
- Email: support@lightcam.com
- From: the email address on your LightCam account
- Subject: Delete my account
We'll confirm your request, cancel any active subscription so you're not charged again, and permanently delete your account, your clips, and your personal information within 30 days.
Delete from inside the app
Have LightCam Plus? Cancel your subscription first — email support@lightcam.com and we'll close out billing for you before you delete. The in-app option doesn't cancel a paid subscription yet, and you'd lose access to your account before you could. (We're updating the app so this happens automatically — but for now, email us first.)
Once billing is handled, or if you don't have a Plus subscription:
- Open the LightCam app.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete my account and confirm.
This signs you out, permanently removes your login, and factory-resets your cameras so they're unlinked from your account and ready to be set up again.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we remove:
- Your login and account profile — name, email, and sign-in credentials
- Your saved security clips
- Your camera registrations — your cameras are factory-reset and unlinked
- Your app preferences and settings
What we hold onto, and why
- We permanently erase your personal data within 30 days of your request.
- Saved clips are removed within 90 days at the latest.
- We may keep limited order and billing records where the law requires it (for example, tax and accounting). Once those legal requirements pass, those records are destroyed too.
Your cameras still work
Deleting your account doesn't break your hardware. Your cameras are simply reset to like-new — you, or a new owner, can set them up again on a fresh account anytime.
