Security Clips Missing or Not Recording
Security clips not showing up? Here's how to find them and what to check.
Security Clips Missing or Not Recording

You expected a clip and it's not there. Here's how to find it — and what to check if it never recorded in the first place.
Step 1: Is the Camera Online?
An offline camera can't upload clips. If your camera is showing offline in the app, get it back online first.
See the Camera Went Offline article to fix that, then come back here.
Step 2: Check Your Plan
Free plan — During your 90-day Plus trial, clips are saved automatically. After the trial ends, clip storage requires a Plus subscription. If your trial has ended and you're on the Free plan, you'll still get live view (limited to 5 minutes/day) but new clips won't be saved going forward.
How to check: Go to Account → Subscription in the app.
To restore clip recording: Upgrade to Plus ($9.99/month). Clips will start saving again immediately.
Step 3: Where to Find Your Clips
- Open the app and go to Home.
- Tap your camera.
- Tap the Clips tab.
Clips are sorted by date, newest first. If you're looking for something from a few days ago, check the date filter — it's easy to scroll past.

Step 4: Check Detection Settings
If the camera is online and clips still aren't recording, make sure Person Detection is turned on.
- Go to Settings → [Camera Name] → Detection.
- Make sure Person Detection is set to ON.
If detection is off, nothing triggers a clip — the camera records nothing even if someone walks right in front of it.
Why a Specific Event Might Have Been Missed
Person detection has to see a person clearly in frame to trigger a clip. A clip won't record if:
- The person was at the edge of the frame
- The subject was partially blocked or obscured
- The camera was aimed at an area with poor lighting at night
- The person moved through the frame very quickly
Fix: Adjust the camera angle so the area you care about is in the center of the frame. Increase detection sensitivity in Settings → [Camera Name] → Detection → Sensitivity.
Clips That Won't Play
If a clip shows up in the list but won't play, the video may still be uploading. Wait an hour and try again.
If it still won't play after an hour, the upload likely failed — this can happen when WiFi was weak at the time of the event. Check your signal strength at the camera's location.
How Long Are Clips Saved?
Clips are stored for 90 days from the date they were recorded, then they expire automatically. This is not a bug — it's by design. Download anything you want to keep before it hits 90 days.
What About Clips From Before a Factory Reset?
Clips live in the cloud, not on the camera. A factory reset doesn't touch them. When you sign back into your account after a reset, all your old clips will still be there.
Still need help? Go to Account → Messages in the app.
